A Life of Legend

Grand China Restaurant owes its success to the dedication and perseverance of the owner, Mrs Chang.

Mrs Chang started a career in the catering industry by coincidence. Originally, she came to the United States purely out of love, but she never imagined that she would be rewarded with a career of her own.

Born into a political and business family in Taiwan, Mrs Chang has been nurtured by her elders since she was a child, and has achieved great academic performances and talents. In the mid-1970s when she was in her youth, she met Mr Chang, who was studying in the United States, at a political and business gathering. Under Mr Chang's advice, Mrs Chang decided to come to the University of Atlanta to study MBA with him to pursue both his academic dream and love.

A year later, Mrs Chang chose investment immigration in order to get her green card faster. For someone who has always loved cooking since childhood, opening a Chinese restaurant was undoubtedly the simplest and most suitable investment at that time. She had planned to sell the restaurant after getting the green card, but she didn't realize that in a year's time, the business had become more and more prosperous. Seeing the long queues every day and the hard work she had put in, she could not bear to part with it, so Mrs Chang decided to devote herself to the business.

As a matter of fact, Mrs Chang’s business was not always smooth in the beginning. At that time, she was still studying for her MBA, she had to go to class in the morning, and at noon, she had to rush back to the restaurant to prepare the dishes. In the first six months, she didn't hire anyone to help her with the kitchen and the dining area, which was hard to imagine. But it was also this experience that honed Mrs Chang's strong heart and mind, laying a solid foundation for her future glory.

God rewards hard work, and dedication will ultimately bear sweet fruits!

Half a year later, under the guidance of an experienced individual, Mrs Chang hired a very experienced chef, which made her work less strenuous. And on Thanksgiving Day that year, she welcomed a man who changed the fate of the restaurant, a well-known local gourmet chef. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, almost all restaurants in the US were closed, and Mrs Chang's Grand China was one of the few restaurants still open in Atlanta. It just so happens that this foodie was dining out on Thanksgiving Day, so naturally, he came to Grand China. After tasting the food, the gourmet praised it so much that she published a special report about the restaurant in Atlanta’s largest newspaper, and since then, the restaurant has become a hit, usually attracting long queues every day!

Afterwards, Grand China Restaurant still had its ups and downs, moving its address three times before finally finding its best destination in 2015.

Perseverance and Faith

For 48 years, Mrs Chang has engraved the concept of customer first into her bones. She has been working in a humble and down-to-earth manner, refusing to take any trickery or shortcuts, or indulging in honor and fame.

By doing a good job, strictly following the highest standards in every step, and always maintaining a very high level of service and cuisine quality, Grand China has been unanimously recognized by the local authoritative media and mainstream society.
