High-quality Cuisine Celebrating the Concept of “Healthiness”

Adhering to the concept of healthiness, the restaurant emphasizes the selection of the freshest and high-quality ingredients to create authentic and healthy Shanghai-style cuisine. All dim sum is handmade to ensure a delicate taste and high quality. The use of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and chicken bouillon is avoided, and all sauces are developed proprietarily based on natural processes. These efforts open up an opportunity for diners to taste both the original taste of ingredients and the unique palatableness of different food varieties.

The restaurant exclusively offers the Special Braised Pork Bao, an updated version of the classic Shanghai snack. With the rich flavor of sauces and deep oily color, the snack brings instant olfactory satisfaction.


The seemingly plain Shanghai Traditional Scallion Oil Noodles are actually created by a sauce made of more than a dozen ingredients, bringing authentic flavor that blends the fragrance of spring onion and salty freshness.


The signature dish Ginger Beef Sizzling Plate consists of a layer of seafood mushroom on the plate, white onion and butter at the bottom and beef ribs slowly braised for 6 hours in the middle and then fried to give rise to a crisp skin and tender taste inside. The dish is dressed with dried shallot, garlic, sesame and shredded ginger. When it is served, the waiter would directly pour the ginger-flavor steak sauce onto the sizzling plate to create a complex blend of flavors and a spectacular visual presentation.

Ms. Sun, the owner of the restaurant who is a native of Shanghai, has an innate motivation to pursue perfection. By her standard, the restaurant must constantly look attractive. In terms of food offerings, the restaurant upholds a western management model characterized by stringent operational flows. There are uniform standards to be observed when it comes to the quantity of spices and cooking time to ensure the consistency and stability of the resulting dishes. To create a good vibe, the restaurant adopts extremely stylishly ingenious and amazing decorations ranging from lighting, green plants, dishes and even dish arrangement. Ms. Sun takes a hands-on approach in terms of services: she personally takes part in and monitors restaurant services and upholds the concept of “fixing eyes on the needs of customers”. It is such a customer-first service concept that enables the restaurant to gain broad recognition and acclamation.

Executive Chef

Yanpeng Huang is currently the Executive Chef of Shanghai Alley Gourmet in Oakville. He graduated from Professional Cooking ( PCK ) with an Arts Major from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). 

He began his career working as a former intern at Calgary Country Hills Golf Club, Marriott Hotel, and Catch Seafood Restaurant & Bar and then became a store manager at North Sea Fish Market in Calgary. With over ten years  of culinary experience, Yan has worked at some of the top-ranked local Asian restaurant venues owned by the Taste of Asia Group and local trendy spots owned by Thank You Hospitality Group & Concord Group. His culinary talent and skills are widely versatile, from traditional Chinese cuisine to modern Fusion with Western flavours. 


Through his flavourful dishes, Chef Yanpeng showcases his culinary skills and repertoire of international cuisine blending flavours of other regions of Asia in a way that is distinctly unique and instinctively cohesive.
