VAUGHAN, Ont. — Taco Bell Canada plans to offer booze with its burritos at select locations this summer.
The quick service chain also announced plans to grow from 170 restaurants in seven provinces to 700 units over the next five to 10 years.
Starting in June, the first unit to add booze to the menu is the Canadian flagship, located at 484 Queen St. West in Toronto. Consumers aged 19-plus can expect a selection of beer on the menu, with the potential for more beverages to be added later. Taco Bell serves tacos, burritos, signature quesadillas, nachos and salads.
“In the last five years, Taco Bell Canada has experienced tremendous growth, growing at 28 percent, further cementing us as Canada's number one Mexican-inspired restaurant,” said Amanda Clark, general manager, Taco Bell Canada. “This announcement highlights how committed we are to further growing our business, and how devoted we are to building deeper relationships with our customers and evolving the way they experience our brand.”
As part of the growth strategy, newly opened Taco Bell Canada locations will showcase an updated design, featuring modern decor, local artwork and open kitchens.
KFC also recently introduced a new store design earlier this year at a Mississauga, Ont., location.
“At the core of our new design, we stay true to our Californian heritage. We can't wait for our fans to see it,” said Clark.
Taco Bell Corp. is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., which also operates KFC and Pizza Hut.
